Millesyus is a coined word inspired by the Japanese family name “Chikusa” (千種), the surname of my grandmother. “Mille” means “千 (thousand)” in French, “syu” means “種 (seed)” in Japanese, and “s” is the plural form, representing family. These elements were combined to create the name Millesyus.
The brand’s logo features a butterfly, which was designed with inspiration from the Chikusa (千種) family crest, a traditional Japanese “kamon.”
In the new logo, a woman’s silhouette is drawn within the butterfly’s wings, symbolizing the coexistence of tradition and feminine beauty.

MISSION
Millesyus weaves together the traditional beauty of Japan and modern sensibility, bringing the spirit of kimono into contemporary loungewear quietly delivering the beauty that lives within tradition, into everyday life.

I felt that the opportunities to wear kimono in everyday life have been fading. I wondered how more people could enjoy wearing kimono casually. Then I realized that by redefining it not as outerwear but as loungewear, its beauty could be felt more closely in daily life.
I was especially drawn to the fabric of nagajuban. It is a material usually hidden beneath the kimono. Because it is thin and slightly translucent, it is not ideal for wearing outdoors. But I thought, what if that delicacy and sheerness could become part of its beauty at home? That was where I saw a new possibility for kimono.
To wear is to feel tradition. To create something that quietly accompanies everyday life. Millesyus was born from that wish.
